Before you begin your project, you must obtain a development permit from the Town of Tofield. Please note, a development permit does not excuse the applicant from satisfying all other applicable municipal, provincial and/or federal requirements.

When do I require a development Permit? For more information refer to our LAND USE BYLAW

 

    • New Construction

    • Demolition

    • New Business or tenant in existing building

    • Additions

    • Placing a new sign

    • Operation of a home based business

    • Accessory Building, including a garage or sheds (over 10m2)

    • Decks

Development not requiring a Development Permit (for the full list refer to section 3.5 in the LAND USE BYLAW)

 

    • Accessory buildings: not exceeding 4.5 m in height and not exceeding a ground floor area of 10 m2.

    • Pergola not exceeding 4.5 m in height;

    • deck (or patio) less than 0.6m in height;
