Busy B Bargains is a non-profit organization which owns and operates two second-hand retail / recycling stores in the town of Tofield, Alberta, Canada. Busy B’s stores offer everything from clothing to toys, from collectibles to books.

In addition to operating its stores, Busy B provides financial support to several organizations in the town of Tofield area and beyond. This includes  Rural Crime Watch, the Diabetic Support Group, Tofield-Ryley and Area Food Bank and numerous community improvements and events.

Funds in excess of the operational expenses are donated for projects that benefit community life, such as the town sign or the Communities in Bloom program, as demand varies.

All of this is possible because of the over 100 people who volunteer at Busy B. Volunteers and Visitors are Welcome! Tours of all locations are welcome; please contact Yvonne at 780-662-2651 to book a tour.

PUBLIC NOTE:

Busy B is no longer able to accept donations of large appliances (stoves, refrigerators, washers, dryers and freezers).

For health reasons, Busy B  cannot accept  mattresses, box-springs or hide-a-beds.

Items in good repair will continue to be accepted at the Busy B locations!

Busy B operates out of two buildings, each staffed by a dedicated group of community volunteers. It is the goal of the members of the society to have the stores open according to the hours listed below, with the exception of civic holidays. However, due to the fact that volunteers may not always be available, there may be times when it is not possible to be open as planned. In this case, you may call the contacts listed below to arrange for shopping time. Also, if you are coming from out of town, you may call prior to travelling to be sure of access to the stores.

VOLUNTEERS

Beyond the storefront operations there are a multitude of off-site tasks being completed. There are those who do electrical and woodwork repair, cut cotton rags, unravel unwearable wool items, repair dolls, write articles for the Tofield paper, etc.

There are volunteers who transport items to other agencies, who roll up plastic bags into tidy packages, who maintain web pages or prepare brochures, who deliver flowers or food as needed, who bring homemade goodies for lunch to the stores, and many, many more.

Young people help at Busy B too, whether as Work Experience students, summer employees, doing community hours, or just because it’s a great place to “B”.

Busy B offers not only valuable recycling and redistribution services to our community, not only financial support to many other organizations, but also offers friendship, appreciation and a sense of family. A place and a task can be found to match any volunteer’s interests or skills — can you help?

Volunteers are appreciated in many ways, whether by kind word or smile, to more tangible ways, perhaps a bouquet of flowers, or some baking, and every year there is the big Volunteer Appreciation Banquet.

Much of the success of Busy B Bargains is due to the founder and director, Yvonne Brown, a tireless worker and fountain of ideas and imagination. Thanks Yvonne!
